Priscilla Brooks

Hey sweet one.

Hey sweet one. I’m Aunt C. Welcome to The Backyard Homesteader, where we believe it’s never too late to grow something beautiful in your life, whether it’s food, skills, peace, or freedom.

I’m a 60-something woman living my second half of life with purpose, cooking real food, tending a small backyard homestead, and choosing natural, simple living every single day.

I’m not on acres. I don’t live on a big farm. I grow in containers and grow bags… right here in my backyard. And I’m proof that you can create a meaningful, nourishing homestead life exactly where you are.

Farm to table

Clean Cooking & Farm-to-Table Living

My kitchen is the heart of my home: cast iron on the stove, fresh herbs within reach, and simple, clean ingredients that nourish the body.

You’ll find me cooking:

  • carnivore & keto meals
  • clean, real-food recipes
  • vegetables straight from the garden
  • farm-to-table comfort meals
  • homemade broths, sauces, pickles & preserves

I believe food should be real, healing, and deeply satisfying, the way our grandmothers made it.

Backyard Homesteading: Where It All Comes Together

My homestead is small but mighty.

I grow:

  • herbs

  • greens

  • seasonal veggies

  • flowers

  • medicinal plants

All in containers.

I also share stories from the flock of chickens I share with my sister’s homestead, because simple living is more fun when the hens are involved.

Homesteading isn’t about land size. It’s about heart, intention, and slowing down enough to notice the everyday miracles.

DIY Projects & Crochet (My Cozy Therapy)

I always have a project in my hands: stitching, making, creating. Crochet is therapy you can hold in your hands, and DIY projects bring beauty and usefulness into everyday life.

Here you’ll find:

  • crochet projects & patterns
  • home + garden DIY
  • repurposing & simple homemaking tasks
  • handmade gifts

It’s creativity rooted in peace, not perfection.

My Mission

I’m here to help women, especially those 55+, reclaim their health, their peace, and their freedom.

I believe in:

  • growing real food in containers and small spaces
  • natural wellness and clean eating
  • cooking from scratch with what you grow
  • making your own home remedies and products
  • creativity through homemaking and DIY
  • building confidence one season at a time

And above all

I believe in YOU.

If you’re ready to grow food, cook from your garden, make natural things, and live a simpler life right where you are… welcome home, sweet one.

Let’s walk this journey together: season by season, container by container, harvest by harvest.
